The second minister, Rev Matthew Haltridge, a Scot, was ordained here on 8th March 1676 but things did not improve financially for in 1690 when it was told at a visitaion that "the arrears due to Mr Haltridge was £177, that all was desperate... and that they could only secure £21 for the next year". He continued, however, until his death on 20th October 1705.
